The FSMD005-1206-R from RFE/Fuzetec is a surface-mount resettable PTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) fuse in a 1206 package. It is designed to provide overcurrent and short-circuit protection in low-voltage electronic circuits. Under normal operating conditions, the device presents a low resistance and allows current to flow. When an overcurrent event occurs, the PTC heats up, its resistance increases sharply, and it effectively limits the current to protect downstream components.
